Pornography

• One in five women (21%) approve of pornography. Chennai emerges as the most favourable town in respect of pornography with some 37 percent claiming to approve of it. This is followed by Mumbai and Ludhiana. Notably, SEC A1 (27%) are more likely than their SEC A2 counterparts to approve of pornography.
  
  
• While one in five women approve of pornography, the proportion of those actually watching it is higher with nearly one in four saying they have seen it. The incidence of porn is particularly high in Chennai and Delhi. SEC A again has marginally higher porn watchers as compared to SEC B.
  
  
• The frequency with which pornography is watched is consistent across SEC. Pornography is watched most frequently by women in Ahmedabad. Women from Chennai (10%) and Bangalore (15%) like to watch porn only before sex and this incidence is higher than in other centres.
  
  
• Most females watch their first porn during their 20s. The highest incidence of this seen in Chennai and Lucknow. Teen age is the second largest age group among females watching porn for the first time with the highest incidence in Jaipur.
  
  
• Initiation to pornography is most commonly ascribed to friends. Over one in five women discovered (watched) pornography at home. Home initiation as it were to pornography registers the highest incidence in Lucknow (51%) followed by Delhi (38%).
  
  
• Nearly half (45%) of all pornography-watching women have been inspired by pornography to try new positions.
  
  
• Over half (55%) of all women say their sex partners approve of pornography. Sex partners of women in Mumbai (72%) are most approving across the board. This is followed closely by Ahmedabad at 69 percent. Some 25 percent of all pornography-watching women in Jaipur and 16 percent in Patna watch porn without the knowledge of their partners. Over one in every ten women (11%) in Ludhiana has been made to watch pornography under duress.
  
  
• Video comes out to be the most popular pornography format with three out of five women reporting as much. Video pornography finds the highest patrons in Kolkata (86%) followed by Bangalore (79%). Pornography patrons in Lucknow (65%) and Jaipur (52%), on the other hand, are most partial to the print medium.
  
  
• Celebrity porn (32%) and Indian porn (31%) are the most common types of pornography watched. The highest incidence of bisexual porn viewing is in Chennai (20%) and Ahmedabad (20%). At 42 percent, rape is, far and away, the most preferred porn theme in Lucknow.
  
  
• Videos rental is the most commonly reported source of pornography supply with nearly one on 3 women reporting as much. Ludhiana and Bangalore report this as the most common porn procurement modality. Over one in five women (22%) buy porn from stores. At 51 percent, this practice registers the highest prevalence rates in Lucknow.
  
  
• One out of four all porn-watching women in Bangalore admit having made their own porn videos.
  
  
• One in ten porn-watching women at the aggregate level says they are willing to participate in a porn video given a chance. Bangalore has the highest levels of willingness for participation with over one in five (21%) porn-watching women saying as much.

Incest

• Some 44 percent of all those who say they've had sex with their blood relations say they do it sometimes. The most commonly reported incest partner for incest is the brother. Of all those reporting sexual encounters with blood relations, over half (54%) say the act was consensual.
