Rahman voted Indian of the Year 2009
Music director A.R. Rahman was elected Indian of the Year 2009 for his music for Slumdog Millionaire that put the country on the Oscar map. Rahman won 27 per cent of the total votes. He was followed by Congress leader Rahul Gandhi (17.42 per cent) and cricketer Sachin Tendulkar (16.67 per cent). Read more. Our list of nominees was as below.
