Monitor defence purchases every month
The Sindhurakshak accident is a pointer to India's ageing and shrinking naval fleet. India needs a strong Navy to protects its strategic interests. But the Navy’s been waiting for purchases. Consider these points and decide if India should speed up arms contracts.

a) India bought INS Vikramaditya in 2004, it is to be commissioned later this year. Nine years later.

b) India has lost ground in Sri Lanka and the ASEAN due to increasing Chinese naval presence.
