Maneka then sought control of all of Sanjay's moveable wealth of an estimated Rs 4.73 lakh. Maneka's political activities were enough to earn her the wrath of her mother-in-law and prime minister Indira Gandhi, who threw her out of her house with three-year-old Varun Feroze in a blaze of publicity. The marriage, said Indira, was a conspiracy of certain forces who "wanted to infiltrate into my home".
