THE FAMILY MAN |
Rajiv Gandhi

An intensely private man, a happy aviator, sucked into the quicksand of Indian politics only to help his mother, left alone after his brother Sanjay's death. Following his assassination in May 1991, India Today wrote: "Rajiv was the quintessential family man. Family came first. Therewas always time for Sonia and the kids, trips to game sanctuaries, the mountains, pushkar or Jaisalmer. And for playing with dogs." Seen in the photograph with son Rahul at the funeral of his mother Indira Gandhi. |
