MAN OF WAR, AT LEISURE
Field Marshal Sam Manekshaw
                          1997
He was a terror to any enemy of India and hero of the 1971 war, but that didn't stop Field Marshal Sam Hormusji Framji 'Sam Bahadur' Jamshedji Manekshaw from playing with dolls. At his home in Coonoor, Wellington, a row of Barbie dolls sat atop his cupboard. His explanation: "I always wanted to play with dolls. When I was young, my mother wouldn't allow me to, then my wife came along. Finally, I told myself, 'Now I am the field marshal, I will damn well do as I please'!"
