Government must let out Lutyens bungalows to the highest bidders
Lutyens bungalows in New Delhi are allotted to politicians and their kin arbitrarily. Should this privilege be revoked? Consider these points:
a) Lok Sabha Speaker Meira Kumar will retain a Lutyens bungalow, allotted to her late father, for another 25 years.
b) Mayawati has been allotted 3 Lutyens bungalows. Rahul, Sonia, and even Priyanka Gandhi, occupy separate Lutyens bungalows.
c) News reports have said that over Rs 100 crore of taxpayers' money was spent (over five years) for the upkeep of these bungalows.
