Since 1993, the annual Business Today survey of India's Best Banks, conducted in association with KPMG Consulting, has come to be regarded as the best yardstick for banks in India to weigh themselves against their peers. In November 2003, Business Today instituted ‘Best Bank Awards’ as an annual feature on the basis of the special issue. Last year 11 banks were awarded as winners in various categories. It was India’s Fastest Growing Bank, India’s Most Productive Bank and India’s Most Efficient Bank, which was recognized as India’s Best Bank. It was a power function, as India's top bankers gathered with other top honchos of India Inc. to felicitate the country's Best Banks.
