India Today reported his death in Operation Bluestar in these sombre tones: "Half-dried streams of blood streaked down its (a truck in the Kotwali police station) sides. A sub-inspector, tears in his eyes, asked me to look inside.There were bodies, at least a hundred. Less than 500 yards away lay the body of Sant Jarnail Singh Bhindranwale on slabs of ice.
