Chandni Chowk

Chandni Chowk is Old Delhi's historic shopping street. Emperor Shah Jahan built the area in 1650 and today it's a busy market. The convoluted back alleys are crammed with shops selling books, clothing, shoes, silver jewellery and leather and electronic goods.

In the middle of the bustle you'll also find carpets and jewellery but you'll need to search hard, stopping for breaks in between--but hunting is more than half the fun of this experience.
