To,
Dr. Manmohan Singh
Honourable Prime Minister of India

New Delhi

Dear Sir,

I have joined the INDIA TODAY Group's movement to Declare War on Terror.

I humbly request you to review and rationalise the security requirements and arrangements of our politicians.

We understand they need protection because they have to take unpopular decisions and carry out their task without fear or favour. We have, however, seen that many treat security personnel as a status symbol. There is already a serious shortage of experienced personnel to combat terror and it would take years to train fresh recruits and meet the demand.

I request you to immediately order an optimisation exercise and prune down security for politicians to the bare minimum so that trained personnel can be deployed to guard citizens.

Yours sincerely,
Concerned Citizen of India

India Reacts
The prime purpose of the terrorists is to shatter the peace and unity of the country. The only way to defeat them is by defeating their mindless purpose-- stand with determined resilience with the people of the country irrespective of communal, linguistic and regional barriersn.

Much has been spoken by the leaders, but no concrete work has been done so far. The ministry should not be headed by any politician but by some retired police or preferably some military official.
